UPDATE: The submission deadline has been extended to September 30.
We are currently accepting submissions for Issue 3 of Vahid literary magazine. We welcome the work of writers, photographers, and artists. The submission deadline is August 31, 2016.
Below are the submission guidelines for Vahid, Issue 3, to be published Spring 2017. (If you are interested in contributing photographs or articles for the NineteenMonths.com blog, please inquire under separate cover.)
All submissions should be sent to to editors@nineteenmonths.com, with the subject line “Vahid.”
Submissions Guidelines
The theme of Issue 3 is “Origins.” We will give priority to works related to this topic.
We’re most interested in authentic, honest work that indirectly touches on the spiritual nature of humanity. We prefer writing that is accessible to a wide readership, and transcends genre. It is recommended that you read one of our past issues before submitting. You can download a free copy of our first issue, or pick up the second issue on Amazon.
We do consider previously published written work. Please indicate on your submission where the piece was originally published.
Our team of volunteers will do our best to reply to all submissions in a timely manner. Acceptance letters will be emailed at the end of the submission period.
Fiction/Creative non-fiction
We consider short fiction and creative non-fiction up to 1,500 words in length. Please send 1 to 2 fiction or creative non-fiction pieces at a time.
Poetry
We like poems of any length, in either free verse or traditional forms. Please send 1 to 5 poems at a time.
Photographs
Preference will be given to photographs that relate to the theme of the issue. We will consider both photos that can stand alone as their own work of art, or images that can be edited or cropped for the magazine layout. Please submit 1 to 5 high-resolution photographs at a time.
Visual Arts
We accept other visual arts as well, such as paintings and illustrations. Please submit 1 to 5 high-resolution images at a time.
