The blossoming beauty of our garden gives intense pleasure and deep satisfaction to my mind. Verdant greens, new buds, and the chatter of swallows and woodpeckers: the garden’s beauty is invested with meaning as my husband and I tend vegetable beds and our daughter enjoys playing on the grass, eating leaves. Every morning before breakfast she and I walk with dewy feet to breathe on the lilacs and roses, to notice fresh unfurlings and to wave at a squirrel or fox. The garden is not only manifestly beautiful but also embedded with service, patience, laughter, and hope.
